Bridgette Williams
(she/her)
Bridgette is a registered, masters qualified, counsellor who specialises in body image counselling, and holding a space for EVERYbody - especially women and teenage girls in bigger bodies. She supports people to make peace with their body, eat intuitively, find joy in movement, and become self-compassionate. With lived experience of navigating the world in a bigger body, Bridgette understands firsthand what it's like to face constant criticism, not feel good enough and to have a body that the world says does not belong.
Bridgette first discovered the Health at Every Size (HAES) paradigm in 2013, it changed her life. Using a HAES framework, Bridgette supports you to shift the focus off weight and onto health - that’s your version of health. She uses an integrated model of counselling, and places strong emphasis on the client-counsellor connection. Part of her focus involves supporting you to better understand society’s structures and how they impact your body story - after all, power and profit thrive when you feel bad about your body.
Bridgette's style of counselling is kind, curious and authentic. She will be your cheerleader, your confidant and will gently challenge you. Bridgette considers working with you to be a true privilege.
In her free time, Bridgette enjoys discovering Brisbane’s best brunch spots, cuddles with her dog, resting in a restorative yoga class, curating a wardrobe of bright statement dresses and trying her hand at new recipes.
